Arin works as part of the Watch in Baerlon, Andor.

After Rand sees a Fade in Baerlon, Moiraine and Lan prepare to lead the Two Rivers folk out of the city. Lan gives one of the Watchmen money to let them out through the gates even though it is dark, and the man calls for Arin and Dar, two more Watchmen, to help him open the gates. Arin and Dar appear, blinking sleepily, and under the first Watchman's orders they open the gate. When Dain Bornhald appears with four other Children of the Light, the Watchmen don't know who to obey, the Whitecloaks or Lan. When Moiraine uses the Power to make herself seem larger, both the Whitecloaks and the Watchmen cower in terror. After Moiraine, Lan and the Two Rivers folk are out the gate, the Watchmen frantically begin closing it, even though Bornhald orders them to keep it open so that the Whitecloaks can follow.
